So if i want to print 20 6 x 4 photo's, on photografic paper, i have to use 20 sheets! Every time i try and down load all my photo's from my iphone, it crashes? I even gone to an IT company to look at it, who say there is an issue with the downloading a lot of photos from an iphone, but it wont give you the ioption to down load half at a time or smaller batchs.Īlso elements converts all my pictures on the pc to its own format. I cant pick 4 photos and print them on one sheet. I am now using Elements, as a stop gap which i think is appalling. I've been looking on and off for a year! I cant find anything that does the above and works? I would be spoilt for choice i thought, must be loads of great programs out there to replace Picasa, for the everyday person like me who does not use Apple software on PC, but does have photo's to backup, store and print out, who is not a professional who needs Photoshop. Then Google took it over and then retired it, so its gone I used it in my business to store and edit shots I'd taken for my website and could print out family photo's 4 on a sheet of A4. It was a simple and easy to use manager of my photo's with simple easy editing, like cropping, and adjusting brightness. I have used Picasa for years on pc with microsoft. There is a version of that in the cloud-based Lightroom, but not the desktop Lightroom Classic. Please please please help! Something i thought would be repetitively easy, has turned out to be a nightmare. The only thing I feel like I'm missing from modern photo software is the excellent AI-based search like in Google Photos. Sadly even the legacy Picasa has lost that functionality since the Google Maps API has since changed. One of the key features I wanted was the map view for geotagged photos, which Lightroom has. It does everything Picasa could do and more, albeit sometimes clunkier. But on all other accounts, I'm happy with my decision. Like, tagging pictures is tedious enough, I don't need the software literally slowing me down and dragging out the process. I love the functionality, although I am occasionally disappointed with performance. ![]() I tried almost every suggestion I could find but none of the free options really did it for me.Įventually I ended up biting the bullet and getting the subscription to Lightroom. ![]() ![]() Long time Picasa user, resisted giving it up for as long as possible, frustrated with Google being Google. Thanks in advance for any advice and recommendations! But my new computer is a Windows 10 computer-so I need to somehow migrate my pics together with their organization (stars, albums, face recognition, etc.) not only to a new photo viewer/organizer, but one a Windows 10 PC. My pics are still on an old Mac computer I have and that is where I use Picasa to view them. My preference would be open source software, but I don't know if that is possible.Īlso, an additional wrinkle for me on this topic. So I'd like to avoid that if possible, since I assume the price will only go up and up as time goes on. I see that they have moved to a subscription model with the current rate of $120 per year. I understand that Adobe Lightroom supports many of these features, and so that was one of the first things that I looked at. What alternative photo viewers/organizers are there to Picasa these days that would allow me to import the metadata for my existing Picasa albums, starred, photos, face recognition, etc.? (I can always use a separate photo editor for that when needed.) I also liked how it could do light photo editing, although that is not a priority. And how it let me star favorite pics and view the starred pics as a separate album. ![]() What I liked about Picasa is how it let me easily browse through my pics in chronological order, and allowed for albums and slideshows, and supported face recognition. It's been 4 years since Google abandoned Picasa, and I assume that migrating my metadata to a new program will only become harder, not easier. And I also spent a lot of time tagging faces. Back when it was still being supported, I spent a lot of time tagging my favorite images with stars, and building albums. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I still use Picasa to view most of my pics.
